Make Kindness Count..

Its me today and you tomorrow
In my experience, I've seen multiple people who are in a position to help others, but they hesitate or directly refuse. The last 2-3 years have been so troubling for the entire world. With Covid 19 setting its foot so strong in the entire world, different countries are affected with varying degrees of severity. However, one thing in common is humanity at large suffered in various ways, the effects and after effects of the pandemic. Thousand of people lost their source of livelihood, few thousand lost their loved ones and innumerable others faced depression and anxiety issues due to restricted movement or isolation.

Many people posted their needs of jobs, hospital beds, ambulance, oxygen and even food, on social media, and many reached out to them with open arms to help them pass that difficult phase in life. Many other times when crises situation has come up, like natural calamities or manmade terror attacks, kind human beings have helped to uplift those who were in pain. The pain could be mental stress or physical trauma.

Help coz you can

Even as I speak of my good experiences with helpful behavior people show in general, I must say there are people who also turn a blind eye and a deaf hear to the sorrow and misery of others. The other person may be a relative or a friend. A momentory jealousy, sadistic pleasure or satisfaction of unhealthy competitive spirit is the cause.

My take is, we all go through phases of desperation, pain and troubled times in life, if you are in a position to help, then you must. There are many who do and even more who don't in spite of having all the resources to their disposal. If your plates are over flowing and you see others starving, then why not share. I've seen and experienced personally, both these categories of people.

We must as a society teach our children how to be kind. Kindness should not be a virtue taught in a textbook to a school kid, sitting in the AC class of an international school. Kindness should be a school kid learning to share toys which he or she is no more using in an orphanage. Kindness should be a school kid realising that I am wasting food, while the child sitting outside the gate of my school on the road is straved, and I might as well give food to the needy.

If we teach kindness to our children today, only then we will have a secure future for us. When we are young and have all the strength, earning power and pleasures of life due to good health and wealth, we hardly realise how it is to feel powerless, emotionally broken and physically ill. Only kindness can help bridge that gap between an energetic youth and the helpless old.

Hence, all in all, the same virtue kindness is needed everywhere, in every sphere of life, and it is the only virtue that can turn tables around and make the world a better place.
