Are we trading happiness for success?

This has been long due. I have been so so occupied. But I love to write. Love to express my thoughts. Like to share my views with my readers. My love for writing gives me happiness. And yes, very true, today I am writing my thoughts on happiness. I have been hearing a lot about work-life imbalance recently. In some way, I realise that I am experiencing the same also. Work from home is getting more hectic, than work from office. Defined work hours, interaction with colleagues, break times, meal times, chai pe charcha, many such elements were actually de-stressors. Work from home has become boundary-less in so many ways, extending work hours indefinitely is one boundary which is broken. To top it all we have parents, spouses, children who demand our attention too. The instability of job markets has also made people work harder than usual in their existing job roles. People have also realised the importance of up-skilling themselves. Learning new skills, keeping in mind present and futu

Self-isolation even in case of cold ha

Way back in our school texts, we had read that the historic man started living in groups to socialise and feel secure. The Greek philosopher Aristotle referred to ‘man’ as a social animal, who cannot live as  ‘man’ without society. Components of Healthy Relationships   We need personal connect and support. Relationships of blood and friendships give meaning  to our lives and add beauty to our existence. Building relationships in our personal and professional life is an essential component of our existence. In fact, the use of signs and symbols for the purpose of communication and later evolution of language also took place because of this need to socialise, as we needed to build relationships and live together. Why is it important to build healthy relationships? 1. Relationships form the essence of our survival . We are born weak and vulnerable. By birth, we have developed relationships that help us grow up, learn survival skills and life skills. 2. Having the right people ar

Way to Success – Practical Thinking Skills

Lately, I have been reading about philosophy and life. In the past whenever I have read philosophy or studied it as a part of my college curriculum, I have always felt that it is impractical to apply it to the real world. Most ideas that thinkers shared were applied by them in a context and may be relevant to those times, but would not apply to current human circumstances. Recently, I came across an online program on 'success-practical lessons', and it changed my views on the application of philosophy to a certain extent. I read about some thinkers and some impressive and influential personalities who carved their niche in this world with their ideas of life and their inspiring actions. Here, I will refer to my learnings and how I see its application to our lives. Certainly, I attempt to make this blog a paradigm shift for us. Bruce Lee 1. Bruce Lee, the martial arts guru, spoke his views on Buddhism and Taoism He said ‘Be like water’. It can take any shape and form. It, at
