Make Kindness Count..

Its me today and you tomorrow   In my experience, I've seen multiple people who are in a position to help others, but they hesitate or directly refuse. The last 2-3 years have been so troubling for the entire world. With Covid 19 setting its foot so strong in the entire world, different countries are affected with varying degrees of severity. However, one thing in common is humanity at large suffered in various ways, the effects and after effects of the pandemic. Thousand of people lost their source of livelihood, few thousand lost their loved ones and innumerable others faced depression and anxiety issues due to restricted movement or isolation. Many people posted their needs of jobs, hospital beds, ambulance, oxygen and even food, on social media, and many reached out to them with open arms to help them pass that difficult phase in life. Many other times when crises situation has come up, like natural calamities or manmade terror attacks, kind human beings have helped to upli

The Risk of Behaving Irresponsibly…

Lockdown Lifted Since the lockdown is lifted by the Government and normalcy has been resumed, many have taken the period of lockdown like a by-gone. It's like become a thing of the past and they want to forget the few months when they were confined and regain their freedom entirely. It's not actually wrong to feel that way. We all want to refrain from getting into a lockdown situation again and also want to forget the ill effects of the pandemic on all the aspects of our lives. That includes family life, social life, economic downturn, psychological trauma which we faced. Yes, we want to forget all of it. Which is fine. New Normal However, we are not realising the fact that the virus still exists in and around in the society. There are so many asymptomatic carriers who unknowingly are mixing up with other healthy individuals who have not yet come in contact with the virus. Somewhere what happened due to the lockdown is, we got scared and worried about our lives and the live

50 days homebound

2020 Homebound After much commotion and fuss, we have finally spent 50 days under lockdown. These 50 days have changed our thoughts, impacted our emotions, and transformed our lives almost irreversibly. Blessed are most of us who have safe homes, family, and access to good food and other amenities. Having many luxuries of life, we have spent our lockdown time in varying ways. Apart from doing the mundane tasks of home and office, there are enormous opportunities for engaging in a productive manner that people have found in the comfort of their homes. Taking to social media platforms people have announced their passions. By shares, comments, and likes they receive, they find solace of being connected with the outside world. Although the internet offers us many more ways to be involved and busy. We may not practically be able to do a lot of things considering they may not fit our lifestyle. In these days I have seen people doing some of the following tasks: a)

Tips On Managing Time Effectively During Lockdown

It's 3.15 am, I wake up from my slumber. I see my husband engrossed in his cell phone, the light of the screen flashing on his face in the darkness of the room. I walked towards the window and saw the lights of the row house opposite my house switched on. I wondered what's happening at this time of night when people are supposed to be sound asleep. It's late in the afternoon and we are still not hungry, as we've had a late breakfast. It's 4 pm and I still haven't got done with cleaning, sweeping and swabbing. These, and many such delays in daily activities, I am sure you are also observing in your routine. Is this procrastination? Not really. Procrastination is when we put off things which are to be done right now or at this very moment, to be done another day or later. But this delay or putting off is not an effect of only procrastinating our activities. Moving out of the house, going to work, getting ready for a meeting, sending children t

Business And Work After Covid 19

Recently I read an open letter was written by the CEO and Co-Founder of Airbnb Brain Chesky to his employees. It was an expression of a well-crafted business strategy accompanied by a message that reflected care for his employees. For business over the world, this year is all about survival leave aside profits, and for survival and sailing through this tough time, we need to stand as one. For sustaining business, Airbnb also decided to ask about 1900of its 7500 employees to leave the organization. But this shocking news was broken by the CEO in such a positive manner in this letter, as if he were addressing his family. The company has decided to be fair with the severance pay that employees should receive, are giving them support for getting a new job, providing health cover for an extended time and offering mental health support. Many business leaders have been contemplating on taking hard decisions, just like Airbnb did, while some are changing the ways of working and have

Is Social Distancing Here to Stay?

It's a strange world we live in; and let me tell you we are one of those weird, mysterious creatures on this planet, who are hard to decipher. Although we humans have always lived life on our terms, we have still been very dissatisfied and complaining about so many aspects of our existence.  'Freedom', is, a nd has been forever, one of the most valuable ingredients of our human nature. We have lived free, and enjoyed freedom in every way, almost, and at times also exploited it. The time preceding this crisis was perceived tough by us, as we had to go to work, be away from home, travel long hours, bear with traffic, chi ldren were worried about school, lessons, upcoming exams and the list of worries did not end. But we could have focused  our energies on the freedom we had to move about, meet our friends, go out of our homes, meet people, travel, greet people with hugs, sip a hot cup of coffee in the office canteen, go to our workplaces and contribute to the econom

Crises or Time to Unwind

'Lockdown', the words bring negative connotations with itself. We all know that why we are at home, we all know the risks of being exposed to the monster if we step out, we all know the reason why lockdown is extended and re-extended, still, the fear looming as to what next makes us question as to 'why'. 'Why is the world facing this kind of situation?' 'Why do we have people violating the lockdown?' 'Why is the government helpless towards poor citizens who don't have food to eat? Many such questions worry us while we are locked, in a way self-quarantined at home.  A virus called COVID 19 has changed the face of the world, it's people, its environment, its economy, its political scene, some for the better. They say everything happens for a good reason and it's only time which will show the benefits. Being thinking creatures, we all have expressed our opinions on the global scene on COVID 19.  In this case, while one side of the brain
