Is Social Distancing Here to Stay?

Image
It's a strange world we live in; and let me tell you we are one of those weird, mysterious creatures on this planet, who are hard to decipher. Although we humans have always lived life on our terms, we have still been very dissatisfied and complaining about so many aspects of our existence.  'Freedom', is, a nd has been forever, one of the most valuable ingredients of our human nature. We have lived free, and enjoyed freedom in every way, almost, and at times also exploited it. The time preceding this crisis was perceived tough by us, as we had to go to work, be away from home, travel long hours, bear with traffic, chi ldren were worried about school, lessons, upcoming exams and the list of worries did not end. But we could have focused  our energies on the freedom we had to move about, meet our friends, go out of our homes, meet people, travel, greet people with hugs, sip a hot cup of coffee in the office canteen, go to our workplaces and contribute to the econom...

Giving a Psychological Meaning To Your Life Even In Times of Crisis

Image
Search for Meaning of Life   Ever blamed your professor for setting a tough exam that was difficult for you to crack. Ever blamed the change of climate for an illness? Ever blamed a friend for a fight you've had? If you have noticed well, in the above examples, it is an external cause which is attributed to a particular event to occur. However, have we ever thought through the amount of effort we have put to pass the exam? Have we ever thought of our fitness and exercise before blaming the climate for an illness or about our own actions before blaming a friend for an argument? Even for the pandemic COVID 19, we all have reasoned our heads through and attributed it to China for birthing this virus into this world. But now, for some of these, you will rethink and say it is true, things were definitely out of your control in certain cases at least. All of us, daily, in our heads, go through this process of reasoning and attribution of cause to either self or an external o...

The Educated Class, Out Of Job

It’s been a while since I have been observing the well educated, qualified youth rendered as being jobless in today’s job market. It is the sad truth that today’s job market does not offer jobs to all those who pass out with fancy degrees. There are times when young job aspirants are not even aware of their goals and ambitions. At times they aimlessly wander from one company to the other with their resume and hope to get a swanky, comfortable and reputed position is a decently large organization. Most of the young generation enroll for graduate degrees and higher education degrees after checking the reputation and past records for campus placements of the said institutions. It holds true that parents also are of the same opinion, that if the college gives placements then it is the best place for education for their child for the next 2 to 3 years. Does that mean that only an institute offering placements should be selected for diploma/ degree courses? Does it mean that the rec...

Crises or Time to Unwind

'Lockdown', the words bring negative connotations with itself. We all know that why we are at home, we all know the risks of being exposed to the monster if we step out, we all know the reason why lockdown is extended and re-extended, still, the fear looming as to what next makes us question as to 'why'. 'Why is the world facing this kind of situation?' 'Why do we have people violating the lockdown?' 'Why is the government helpless towards poor citizens who don't have food to eat? Many such questions worry us while we are locked, in a way self-quarantined at home.  A virus called COVID 19 has changed the face of the world, it's people, its environment, its economy, its political scene, some for the better. They say everything happens for a good reason and it's only time which will show the benefits. Being thinking creatures, we all have expressed our opinions on the global scene on COVID 19.  In this case, while one side of the brain...

Life is all about moving on

Life is all about moving on. What is there today is not necessarily going to be tomorrow; be it person, thing, or situation. At most times, we wonder, why we thought, the way we did, in the past. We also at times, regret spoiling our mood for that moment, which today, makes no sense to us, and is also a topic to laugh on. Life is too short to get serious. Change is the only constant in life. Accepting that change is a factor which will be there everywhere, is the only way we can move on. We are creatures of habit, hence change is difficult to accept. Change is also termed by us, humans, as good and bad. We think it is a matter of great effort to make it actually happen. But the truth is, if there was no change, newness, th e old would never be redundant, life would be dull, boring. So I look forward, positively, to all the change..as life is all about moving on...
