Crises or Time to Unwind
'Lockdown', the words bring negative connotations with itself. We all know that why we are at home, we all know the risks of being exposed to the monster if we step out, we all know the reason why lockdown is extended and re-extended, still, the fear looming as to what next makes us question as to 'why'. 'Why is the world facing this kind of situation?' 'Why do we have people violating the lockdown?' 'Why is the government helpless towards poor citizens who don't have food to eat? Many such questions worry us while we are locked, in a way self-quarantined at home.
A virus called COVID 19 has changed the face of the world, it's people, its environment, its economy, its political scene, some for the better. They say everything happens for a good reason and it's only time which will show the benefits.
Being thinking creatures, we all have expressed our opinions on the global scene on COVID 19. In this case, while one side of the brain tells us that it's a major global crisis another side of the brain is hopeful of emerging out brighter and stronger both physically and mentally.
The lockdown has affected us all in umpteen ways. Our meetings have become virtual, our smiles and greetings have become emoticons, our relatives and friends have become socially distant, our homes have become our new workplaces. In normal times we would celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, festivals with dinners, hangouts, and gatherings, but now we are at home celebrating in a small way with our loved ones.
But we should have gratitude in our hearts and be thankful for each day. We have our loved ones with us. Family is the best support system anybody can have. There are so many healthcare workers, volunteers, policemen, social workers who are on duty and many of them do not get to see their families daily or have not seen them for days altogether. With the heart on their sleeves, they toil to do their bit so that the society keeps functioning and we fight COVID 19. The pandemic has caused havoc as many have lost their lives, the economy has slowed down and many have lost their livelihood.
In that case, let's think of what we should be thankful for or should we even be. Yes, we should and if we sit back and think the list will be pretty long. We should be thankful for the home we live in as there are still those who are homeless and some far away from homes, we should be thankful for the food and water we consume as there are some who have gone without it for days. We should be thankful for our family and friends either physically or virtually that makes us feel loved as there are many who are alone, far from their family, or lost one to COVID 19. We should be thankful that the environment has revived itself beautifully and has healed what we had exploited in normal times. We should be thankful for the hope we have that we will surmount this crisis and be victorious. So stay motivated and support each other as this too shall pass.
