After much commotion and fuss, we have finally spent 50 days under lockdown. These 50 days have changed our thoughts, impacted our emotions, and transformed our lives almost irreversibly. Blessed are most of us who have safe homes, family, and access to good food and other amenities.

Having many luxuries of life, we have spent our lockdown time in varying ways. Apart from doing the mundane tasks of home and office, there are enormous opportunities for engaging in a productive manner that people have found in the comfort of their homes. Taking to social media platforms people have announced their passions. By shares, comments, and likes they receive, they find solace of being connected with the outside world.

Although the internet offers us many more ways to be involved and busy. We may not practically be able to do a lot of things considering they may not fit our lifestyle.

In these days I have seen people doing some of the following tasks:

a) Cooking exotic dishes - Although I mentioned that cooking was a mundane task, that's when we are forced to feed ourselves in limited time on busy workdays. Now that we have abundant time, cooking some Chinese or Italian or plain street food has been a pastime for many. Of course, the yummilicous pictures are all over social media.

b) Gardening - Most of us in our daily life do not get a chance to maintain our plants. Plants are soothing and bring fresh air. I have seen multiple people, even celebrities boasting their gardening skills and showcasing pictures of gardens on terraces, window gardens, balcony gardens, and even front yard or backyard gardens.

c) Exercise - In the current times, many forms of exercise prevail. One can use an app to check a workout schedule or do yoga. Zumba and dance is another form of flexing your body. Many out of passion or just to remain fit during the lockdown period resorted to some of these forms of exercise.

d) Meditation - I saw countless WhatsApp and Facebook posts to encourage group calls or zoom gatherings for meditation and calming down during this tough time when more unpleasant news is flowing in than happy news.

e) Taking care of and playing with children- Lockdown has given us this amazing opportunity to spend quality time with our children. Playing with a child is therapeutic in its own way. Although it's tiring to match their bubbling energy, it makes you feel and act childlike and brings life to your matured self.

f) Art and craft- This time is perfect for giving your creativity a boost by engaging in painting, sketching, pottery, embroidery, photography, poetry and literature, calligraphy, and whatnot.

g) Engaging with the world digitally- This period has definitely seen an upsurge in the number of YouTubers, app searches and developers, online learning courses, and many other digital platforms.

So here we have a list of things to do at home when bored, which has kept busy most people in these 50 days homebound. Did you do something different or did something from this list differently? Let me know.
